When Ningursu was a boy, he witnessed his parents’ early demise at the foot of two untamed horses. Haunted by the event, he sought a reason behind it, only to find his answers in the story of the Custocaligo and Hurtovitae, the personifications of Death and Life, long absent from his village.

He immediately becomes enamored by the tale of the Custocaligo, with their role of guiding the dead and maintaining balance but finds himself wary of the Hurtovitae. Why should any single being control Life? If they could, then why did they let his parents die?

Once the Custocaligo and Hurtovitae finally arrive in his village, he sees it as his chance to gather answers. Yet one day, when stalking after the Custocaligo, he witnesses the sacred release of a soul. Upon noticing him, the Custocaligo welcomes his curiosity, offering him a chance to meet with the other Custocaligo and learn their secrets.

Ningursu accepts without hesitation and sets out on a voyage to meet the other Custocaligo. Yet, the voyage comes with a series of tests to determine Ningursu’s worthiness of the Custocaligo. Determined to learn the Custocaligo’s secrets, Ningursu will stop at nothing to control the outcome.

Even if it means losing everything along the way.
